About Us

East Parkway Church is made up of people from nearly every Christian and non-Christian background. We can testify to nearly every condition that is common to humanity, but more importantly, to the grace and glory of God who has brought us to himself in love.

Our Beliefs

Everyone believes something, and those beliefs essentially define who we are. While we consider all those who preach and believe the gospel to be our brothers and sisters in Christ, our core beliefs are listed as follows:

1.  God
2.  God's Self-Disclosure
3.  Scripture
4.  Creation and Fall
5.  The Person of Christ
6.  The Gospel of Christ
7.  Ministry of the Holy Spirit
8.  Sanctification
9.  The Church and Its Ministry
10.  The Consummation

Our Values

Beliefs and values work together and drive our decisions. Whereas beliefs provide the necessary skeleton, values often bring "flesh and blood" personality to a church. So we are shaped by these core values as well:

1.  Centrality of Christ
2.  Worship in All of Life
3.  Broadly Evangelical
4.  Paradox and Mystery
5.  Gospel-Centered Ministry
6.  Praise, Prayer, and Preaching in Corporate Worship
7.  Elder Governed, Elder Led
8.  Each Member a Minister
9.  Children and Youth
10.  Missions

Our Purpose and Priority

When reading about God's purpose for the church as revealed in the Gospels, modeled in Acts, and explained in the Epistles, two notable "greats" stand out: the Great Commandment and the Great Commission.

The Great Commandment is to "love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind" (Matthew 22:37). The Great Commission is to "go... and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you" (Matthew 28:19-20).

Putting these together, our purpose becomes clear: to fulfill the Great Commission in the spirit of the Great Commandment.

From this emerges a three-fold priority—upward, outward, and inward. The upward focus to "love the Lord your God." The outward focus to "go into all the world." And the inward focus to "make disciples." In other words, we strive in all things to love the Lord, reach people for the Lord, and disciple one another in the Lord as we are conformed to the image of Christ.

Our Invitation to You

When God works in a person's life, there's obviously an individual aspect to it by which he deals with each person in a unique and personal way. But much of that divine work is shared and rooted in Christian community, namely, the church.

If you are looking for a church home, a place to belong and make a difference in this world, we'd love to share in God's work with you. We'd love to get to know you better. We'd love you to experience the life and joy of Jesus Christ in our church. So whatever your age, whatever your circumstance, whatever your season in life—whether single, married, divorced or remarried, with or without children—we invite you to come and spend time with us.

Please let us know if you have any questions or if we can serve you in any way.
